The Seurasaari Foundation will be seventy years old in 2026. In honor of the anniversary, we invite all Seurasaari visitors to consider an interesting question: What could Seurasaari be like in ten years?
As part of the anniversary program, a study and participatory data collection called Letters from Seurasaari 2036 will be carried out. The goal is to collect people’s thoughts, hopes, dreams and views on the future of Seurasaari.
Seurasaari is a special place for many. For some, it is a peaceful natural destination in the middle of the city, for others it is an important part of Finnish cultural heritage, and for others it is an environment for events, memories and encounters. We now want to hear how people see this unique place in the future.
We invite you to write a short letter or postcard about the future. The task is to imagine yourself in the year 2036 and describe what a visit to Seurasaari would be like then.
This study is part of Seurasaari’s 2026 anniversary year activities. It is conducted by Dr Anna Rauhala of the University of Helsinki and Dr Johanna Heinonen of the University of Eastern Finland, in collaboration with the Seurasaari Foundation. The Seurasaari Foundation will archive the collected material.
